The career of modeling sounds so glamorous, but those of us who have been in it know the real truth!
It's certainly more fun than a desk job, but it is hard work.Even just trying to get an agency can be very trying...!
Would love to hear some venting about how difficult this business is and how other people think it's so EASY.

Hi Judy,
HARD WORK it is !!! It seems so glamorous when you open up the magizines and see commercial print ect. The work starts by finding an agent. You may go years before anyone gives you a look. Once there we are talking test shoots, getting your comp cards and placed on your agency web site. In the process you are goung on casting's. Casting's are very hard. Every client is looking for something different. And it's not just about a pretty face ! You must learn to act, role play, and work doubles with other models. In some cases you are working with children. Most of the time you are going up against 100 or more models for two spots. You are working with male models also. Just yesterday I was teamed up with a male model. He had a script and so did I. Another thing if you live outside of the city, there is travel involved. I take three trains to get to most casting's. Once there I change over from my sneakers and put on some make-up. But very little. You go in sign up and wait your turn. You may wait 5 min' or 2 hrs based on the amount of models on the casting. Alway's
go early. You may or may not get a call back. You NEVER stop !! It wears on your body, that's why it's important to be in great shape. The flip side is very rewarding but it is exhausting !!!!
Be prepared to work hard.

Just giving you a head up on this...in case you would like to address the obvious sad points of reality.

Hi Anonymous,
Don't misunderstand me I knew all of this coming in. I love it !! I just want models breaking in to know the real deal. I look forward to the reward when it comes !!!!!

Thank-you "anonymous" for posting that link, I am going to post it in it's own area so people can comment. It's too important not to address!
By the way, yes, Lani - you can go YEARS without making a profit at modeling. It takes SO much patience! Rejection is 99% of the business unfortunately.
Hang in there! I know you have the stamina to keep going, someone is going to pick you up one day and you are going to blow your career out of the water!!!
