Hi Judy,

I don't want to highjack this wonderful GREAT blog about Laura's success but I don't know where else to put this.

We didn't get the email you sent us.

You can also try my work email - sometimes the other email blocks for some reason. That email is
elizabeth.ahola@itt.com.

thanks,

E (Morgan's mom)

Lani,
Thankyou so much!!!! I am starting to get a little nervous just thinking about it. It is so nice of you to wish me luck. I do so hope this dream comes true. I would some day love to meet you in person, and Laura too! Maybe we will all see one another on a casting some day ... wouldn't that be great! I will let you know how the shoot goes, going out of town tommorrow , so it won't be until I return. ANY advice on the shoot you have to offer would be great. How you shoot went, etc. Thanks so much Lani.

Hi Mary,

I met Laura last week. It was'nt planned which allowed me to surprise her. I would love to meet you as well. I'm sure we will. Most women over 40 end up on many of the same casting's. My advice to you on your shoot is to be very relaxed. Don't think to much about what you r doing. Have fun, laugh, and enjoy it. The nerves will leave you once you get started. I can't wait to hear how you did. Ur dream will come true because you are doing the work to get there !! Keep us posted.

Lani, you are learning so much about the industry, I'm so proud of you!

Mary - do exactly what Lani says, have fun and just go with the flow. Your natural beauty will shine through! And the key is to just keep moving; give lots of poses and looks.

MORGAN,
I'm sorry-my judygoss.com email went down and I had to change companies so I lost all of my emails.

Can you email me again with your video?

I thought it was GREAT-just needs a little tweaking...like when you walk, put one foot in front of the other like you're on a balance beam. It needs to look more smooth...I will send you more specifics, just send another email to: judy@judygoss.com

And your pics at the end were too commercial for high fashion modeling - GORGEOUS - but not edgy enough.

Hey Morgan!

Sorry everyone else, I need to give a future high fashion model some tips!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know WHAT the heck is happening, but I can't seem to email you again.

Here is the cut and paste of what I told you:

Yeah, I definitely think you should send the video to agencies!  And have the roids at the end as well, but like I said, more edgy.

Ok, here goes (again!) :)

Say your name, age, height and where you're from in the beginning, nothing more...you talk for too long, may lose their interest.

Don't wear that jacket that you wore in the beginning, wear something like what you wore in the walking part - body conscious, simple, not distracting, neutral colors, hair off the face - I like it how you had it when you were walking - your "look" was PERFECT during that part!! And hair, make-up EVERYTHING was great -just what agencies are looking for.

Walk only one time up and back.
No swinging - your body should glide, shoulders still, no sashaying at the hips or crossing your legs when you walk.  You want simple walk with great attitude and energy - your expressions were great, the walk and poses need work.

Don't be so posey at the end before you walk off - you shift around too much.  SMOOTH, simple, elegant......start with a natural pose at the beginning with knee popped, hands down, shoulders back....arms should not be swinging when you walk.

I like when you come down the runway and look at the camera - but less "moving" - STOP when you get to the end, give the camera a "look" then walk back... a little more crisp, but still smooth.

Ok, let me see the next one and I'd be happy to critique that to!!I bet it'll be totally different.

Can't wait to see the next one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try sending it again to judy@judygoss.com, and if I don't respond, reach out for me on this blog.

Hi Judy,

Will do and thanks a bunch. Sooo much appreciated. I knew the people here in Denver were off.

Are you receiving any emails from outside? The internet stuff including emails is a royal pain.

That's a quote from my mom who works with computers all day. ... :-)

Will get a new video out by the weekend.

I was wondering if ANYONE knew of ANY agencies that don't think height is such a big deal. I am 5'5 and most models must be 5'8 or taller. What about print models who only show their face?

Judy Goss said...

Hey ANONYMOUS!!!

Commercial print or lifestyle is where you want to be (the division within a modeling agency where you would fit in).

Call modeling agencies in your area and ask them if they have these divisions...and "talent" agencies have these divisions also!

Where do you live? If I'm familiar with some in your area, I can name a few, otherwise do your research and start calling!

Good luck and welcome to the "Modeling Connection!!"

Do you think there is a chance to become a model for woman over 40 making enough money to live from that?

Do you think there is a chance for an agency to sign a model over 40 althought she is not american? I am dominican , I will like to work as a model. I used to do it before but in this country there is not chance for woman over 40 to do it. A woman over 40 could make a living from this?
